Ethnic Communities Violence Prevention
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) has recently established The Ethnic Communities Violence Prevention (ECVP) work programme, which is an initiative aimed at addressing violence within ethnic communities.
The work programme includes two significant initiatives:
- Ethnic Communities Innovation Fund which supports the development and delivery of solutions and prevention activities for diverse ethnic communities at risk of family and sexual violence across Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Trials of a range of family and sexual violence prevention approaches and activities with South Asian communities in Auckland.
Please visit Ethnic Communities Violence Prevention for more information on the trials and other activities related to the programme.
Ethnic Communities Innovation Fund
The Ethnic Communities Innovation Fund (ECIF) is a community innovation fund open to all ethnic groups across Aotearoa New Zealand for the prevention of family and sexual violence.
ECIF aims to promote the safety and wellbeing of ethnic people by supporting community-driven initiatives for preventing family and sexual violence. The funding will support ethnic communities to develop and deliver solutions and activities for safe, healthy, and diverse ethnic families and communities.
ECIF also offers opportunities to pilot a range of family and sexual violence prevention approaches and activities with ethnic communities across Aotearoa. This will grow the evidence base of what works to support the safety and wellbeing of ethnic people.
Applications can be made for funding up to the maximum of $45,000 per organisation for 12 months. This funding is open to all regions across New Zealand.
Further information about who can apply for the ECIF and instructions on how to do so are available in the application form, as well as in the downloadable question and answer sheet.
