Kimihia

Tēnā koe! Nau mai, haere mai ki KIMIHIA.

Kimihia is an interactive learning resource for Te Manatū Whakahiato Ora – The Ministry of Social Development – staff to support their day to day mahi.

Background

In 2019 The Ministry introduced Te Pae Tata – Māori Strategy and Action plan which articulates how we will work with Māori to achieve better outcomes. Te Pae Tata is underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and draws on the wisdom and experiences of whānau, hapu and iwi to embed a Māori world view into The Ministry.

Part of embedding Te Ao Māori into The Ministry requires the development of staff capability and understanding of Te Ao Māori. He Matapihi ki Te Ao Māori is our Ministry’s capability framework to build awareness, confidence and familiarity in bringing te reo Māori into our everyday conversations and our way of work.

The Ministry is using many tools and initiatives to support the embedding of te ao Māori into its DNA including its practice, process and services, including the use of Kimihia.
