Leading the social sector

Agencies within the social sector deliver a wide range of services to New Zealanders throughout their lives.

MSD is one of the largest providers of social services and is the lead agency for the Social Sector System.

The Minister for Social Development and Employment heads the group of Ministers leading this work.

Coordinating social sector agencies’ work recognises that some people and communities require services where agencies need to work together to achieve results and implement government policies.
