Moneytalks free financial helpline

A new helpline called MoneyTalks is available to provide free advice to individuals, family and whānau struggling with their finances.

People can quickly and easily get in touch with MoneyTalks by phone, email or online chat.

Trained financial mentors will provide free and confidential advice and can also connect people with BFC providers in their own community.

MoneyTalks is aimed at individuals, families and whānau who are:

    • affected by financial hardship
    • enquiring on behalf of another person
    • making general enquiries or needing information
    • having immediate financial issues such as being pressured to make an instant decision.

MoneyTalks will not replace existing BFC services – it will work with other services to help provide the best outcomes for people.

The National Building Financial Capability Trust has been contracted by MSD to pilot the MoneyTalks helpline.

The helpline went live on 3 July 2018 and will operate until 30 June 2019. The pilot will be evaluated and a decision made about its future toward the end of the pilot period.

MoneyTalks helpline is available from Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and on Saturday from 10am to 2pm by:
