Social Assistance Legislation (Accommodation Supplement and Income-related Rent) and Social Security (Mandatory Reviews) Amendment Bill: Approval for Introduction

These papers relate to the Social Assistance Legislation (Accommodation Supplement and Income-related Rent) Amendment Bill, which amends the Public and Community Housing Management Act 1992, the Social Security Act 2018 and the Public and Community Housing Management (Prescribed Elements of Calculation Mechanism) Regulations 2018.

The bill also makes consequential amendments to the Residential Care and Disability Support Services Act 2018. The amendments are primarily to ensure board payments received from all boarders are included in the calculation of housing subsidies administered by MSD.

These papers also relate to the Social Security (Mandatory Reviews) Amendment Bill which amends the Social Security Act 2018, to introduce a requirement that MSD must review a specified benefit at least once every 52 weeks.
