Ruth Bound – Deputy Chief Executive, Service Delivery

Role and responsibilities

Ruth Bound

Ruth leads the Ministry’s Service Delivery group. This group delivers services to more than a million seniors, students, working age beneficiaries and people seeking social or emergency housing as well as services in communities.

That can mean helping someone get sorted financially so they can study, helping people in need to get social housing, supporting someone into work, providing support for someone who can’t work or making sure people aged 65 and over get their entitlement to New Zealand Superannuation. Through its community investment work, Service Delivery connects people to a range of services that help build strong, resilient families.

Services are provided from contact centres, a network of offices in communities across New Zealand and, increasingly, online.

What working for the Ministry means to me

"I love being part of a passionate and committed team of people doing their best to help and support so many New Zealanders, it’s both challenging and rewarding. I think it's an exciting time to be part of MSD as we transform the way people engage with us and continue to find ways to better support them towards their goals."

Ruth brings broad experience in leading large operational, customer focused business units as well as an extensive background in leading change and transformation. She has a strong focus on engaging her team to ensure they can deliver a great client experience for the more than one million New Zealanders they serve.

Ruth's strengths are in strategic thinking, commercial acumen and dynamic communication as well as operational and change management excellence.
