Department of Internal Affairs (DIA)

This match compares the deaths, marriages, identity verification and name change with DIA against MSD systems to identify cases where a client's benefit or allowance records are still active.

Deceased Persons Match

This match compares the deaths registered each week with DIA against MSD systems to identify cases where a client may have died, but their benefit or allowance records are still active.

The match reduces the chance of a surviving partner or the deceased's estate incurring a debt caused by overpayment. Case managers are also advised so they can check surviving partners and family get their correct payments.

Marriages Match

This match compares DIA Marriage data against MSD data in order to identify clients whose entitlement to benefits and allowances may have changed due to marriage.

Identity Verification Match

This match is carried out to confirm the validity of identity details for New Zealand born clients who were granted financial assistance on the previous day. If the details cannot be validated, the case is referred for further investigation.

Name Change Match

This match identifies overseas born clients who have changed their name in New Zealand. This information is used to determine clients who need an alias added to their record or who are receiving payments under more than one identity.
