Te Hiku o te Ika Iwi Social Accord – Budget 2022

Continuing to deliver the joint work programme to meet the needs of Te Hiku whānau, hapū and iwi.

Government is investing $6 million to enable Te Hiku Iwi to build capability to work with their whānau and to address long-standing wellbeing issues, including locally tailored solutions.

This initiative will support the Te Hiku Iwi – Crown Social Accord and the continued delivery of a joint work programme. It will support the ongoing partnership established between Te Hiku Iwi and the Crown and continue to allow Te Hiku Iwi to engage with the Crown to achieve the outcomes specified in the Te Hiku Iwi-Crown Social Accord.

  • The initiative invests in capability to enable Te Hiku to lead in the delivery of services that will contribute to the achievement of a shared vision that the communities, whānau, hapū and iwi of Te Hiku are culturally, socially and economically prosperous.
  • Te Hiku o Te Ika Iwi – Crown Social Development and Wellbeing Accord was signed on 5 February 2013. It articulates how Te Hiku Iwi and the Crown will work together to advance a range of wellbeing outcomes.
  • A more positive relationship between Te Hiku Iwi and the Crown leading to improved effectiveness of Crown services particularly those of the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
