New standard to protect government-held personal information

The Department of Internal Affairs has today released the new standard for providing non-government third parties with access to, or collection of, government-held personal information. The development of the standard follows a Public Service Commissioner-appointed Inquiry into the protection of personal information. You can read the new standard at digital.govt.nz
The aim of the standard is to enhance the protection of government-held personal information and it includes safeguards to protect individuals’ privacy.
MSD will be working through what this means for us, and the third parties we work with, and we will provide an update of what this may mean in the upcoming months.
