COVID-19 (novel coronavirus)

Last updated: 14 May 2020

If you've been affected by COVID-19, we may be able to help.

While our website is being regularly updated, the Ministry of Health is the Government agency leading the response to COVID-19 and should be your first port of call for health and status information.

Employer support

We have a Wage Subsidy and the Essential Workers Leave Support to support employers affected by COVID-19.

The Government has announced in the Budget 2020 that there will be a Wage Subsidy Extension payment available to support employers, including sole traders, who are still significantly impacted by COVID-19 after the 12-week Wage Subsidy ends. It’s also available to those who haven’t received the Wage Subsidy previously. This is so they can keep paying their employees.

Applications can’t be made until 10 June 2020

The COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Extension payment will be for an 8-week period, available from Wednesday 10 June 2020 until 1 September 2020.

Businesses will have had, or expect to have, a revenue loss of at least 50% for the 30 days before applying or compared to the closest period last year.
