Corporate Solutions provides Ministry-wide oversight of activities, support our Ministers, Chief Executive and the Ministry’s leadership and governance functions, and communicate information about the Ministry.

Corporate solutions is made up of the following teams:

Historic claims

The Historic Claims team manages claims of abuse or neglect for people who were in the care, custody or guardianship of the Child Welfare Division, the Department of Social Welfare, or Child, Youth and Family.

Finance

Finance's focus is to maximise the services MSD can provide from the funding it is given and minimise the effort in meeting fiscal responsibilities by having efficient and effective financial forms, processes and systems.

Health Safety and Security

Works to put the health, safety and security of our staff and clients at the heart of everything we do.

Human Resources

Help with staff management across the Ministry providing a range of support services for employees.

Information Privacy, Policy and Practice

Provide advice and guidance on information storage and recordkeeping. Offer library and information services and promote best practice on privacy, managing privacy risks and preventing information breaches.

Information Security

The Information Security function guides and monitors the delivery of information security for the Ministry. It maintains a Ministry-wide risk based information security strategy, policies and frameworks to ensure our information assets are adequately protected, controlled and secured, across the information lifecycle.

Information Technology

Manage the strategy, design, development, operation, maintenance and support of the Ministry’s information systems and infrastructure.

Legal Services

Give legal advice to all parts of the Ministry.

Procurement Solutions

Help deliver sustainable, innovative and value-for-money public services.

Property and Facilities

Help deliver safe and fit for purpose environments and support services.

Risk and Assurance

Risk and Assurance provides independent assurance, advice and support to the Chief Executive, Audit Committee, and the Senior Leadership Team about the integrity, effectiveness and efficiency of the systems, processes, and controls that the Ministry relies on to deliver services to all New Zealanders.

Social Services Accreditation

The Social Services Accreditation (SSA) Team provides assurance to government, that providers have the capability and capacity to deliver quality social services to communities.

They do this by assessing and working with providers to ensure they meet a consistent set of standards (and specialist standards) that meet legislative and policy requirements. Once the standards are met a provider is given accreditation.
