Accessing our Services
Accessing our Services is information about the services the Ministry offers provided in New Zealand Sign Language with a voiceover. It makes it easier for sign language users to learn about the services and how to contact us and help we can give with offering an NZSL interpreter.
This resource was produced in collaboration with Deaf Aotearoa New Zealand.
An introduction to the Ministry of Social Development
Accessing our Services is about how we do our job to assist people when they need help. It talks about the different parts of the Ministry such as StudyLink, Child, Youth and Family and Work and Income services.
Help when studying
StudyLink is for people wanting to study at a tertiary level. The two main forms of financial support are Student Allowances and Student Loans. This tells you how to apply.
Keeping families safe and strong
Child, Youth and Family cares about children and their families. This section is about support for a child when they can't live at home; how you can be a caregiver; youth justice family group conferences and adoption. It tells you what to do if you are concerned about the safety of a child.
This section is on Work and Income benefits, the Disability Allowance, what information you need to bring with you to an appointment. If you let us know that you want an NZSL interpreter when you come in we will book one and pay for it.
Help when working
This section is on how Work and Income can help you look for work and develop skills through training.
The Ministry is here to help you look for work, study options, and for caring for a family.
