The Employers' Disability Network
The Employers’ Disability Network supports employers’ understanding of people with disabilities, helps more people into work and improves services to disabled customers.
The Employers’ Disability Network is designed by employers for employers. It provides a forum to:
• connect employers with services and expert advice in the disability area
• address strategic issues
• develop solutions to common barriers
• promote the economic and social inclusion of disabled people.
The network provides an opportunity for employers to talk about the perceptions of employing people with a disability, and to move from disability awareness to the development of practical solutions. For example, develop customer service initiatives with disabled people and develop standards for recruitment.
By being employer driven, the Network will be able to develop practices and strategies that support the needs of employers, provide partnership opportunities and promote a culture of inclusion for business and workers with disabilities.
The Ministry of Social Development supports the establishment of the network by providing a secretariat service and an advisory group to founding members.
Founding members will:
• establish a set of guiding principles
• determine a funding model
• decide the type of services that can be offered to members.
You can be part of this exciting opportunity to support business and disabled people.
Innovation and lasting change are possible when employers and people with disabilities work together.
