Good Practice Forums

The Office of Ethnic Affairs and the Ministry of Social Development began hosting Good Practice Forums in April 2007. The purpose of the forums is to facilitate the exchange of good practice for working with New Zealand’s diverse communities. The forums are primarily targeted at operational and policy staff in the public sector, however members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Connecting Diverse Communities Good Practice Forums held (or planned) to date are:

• Forging Local Connections for Settlement: Settlement Support New Zealand by the Department of Labour (Monday 1 October 2007)
• Police Responding to Diversity: The Police Ethnic Strategy in Action by the New Zealand Police (Monday 7 April 2008)
• The NZ Diversity Action Programme: Working Towards Racial Harmony by the Human Rights Commission (Wednesday 14 May 2008)
• The Future of Journalism: the training and recruitment of people from ethnic minorities in the field of journalism by Jim Tucker, Whitireia Journalism School (Monday 14 July 2008)
