Waikato Regional Plan 2009/2010

 

Of Waikato’s total population of 289,320, almost half live in Hamilton city.

Agriculture, dairy, manufacturing, property and business services, and retail are the key industries driving Waikato’s economy.

In 2010, Waikato will host the world’s largest Waka Ama Sprint regatta, at Lake Karapiro.

We’re home to the Hamilton 400 V8 Supercars Street Race, the Fieldays at Mystery Creek (the largest agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere) and Balloons Over Waikato, a five-day event that attracts balloonists from New Zealand and around the world.
