Highlights of 2007/2008

In partnership with government agencies, individuals and organisations, a variety of initiatives and programmes have been developed to address Wellington’s important social issues. Highlights of work include:

- Roll-out of Integrated Services Response
- Appointment of health and disability specialists to provide support and services to people with ill health or disability
- Continued leadership in developing the Wellington Regional Labour Market Strategy
- Fantastic results achieved through the local council cadetships
- Opening of a Child, Youth and Family Assessment Centre in Porirua
- Wellington City Council securing Youth Development Partnership funding to run youth participation projects
- Ministry of Youth Development Ministerial Forum held in Porirua in October 2007
- Establishment of the Employment Hub in Porirua and a further development of TradeStart in Lower Hutt
- Partnering with Barnardos to develop the new Early Years Hub in Taita.

- building support for families experiencing family violence
- preventing elder abuse and neglect
- bringing families and support agencies together
- providing an integrated response
- helping parents to provide for their families.
