Helping people like Mubin connect with communities

Just over a year ago, Mubin Mohamed Yasin Shaikh made the huge step of moving countries.

Leaving his former life and family behind in Mumbai, India, Mubin settled in Porirua, where he’s staying with a fellow migrant Mukhtar Shaikh.  Currently working as an accounting temp at Exicom Technologies Ltd, Mubin has found volunteering a valuable step in understanding his adopted country and easing the settlement process.

“I've never stopped learning since the first day! I understand how organisations work together to benefit the community and can now use this knowledge wherever I may be. Volunteering allows people to get in touch with like-minded people and various facets of New Zealand, especially the humanitarian efforts put together by different community organisations.”
