Mobile Services for people of Christchurch

03 March 2011.

Seven Work and Income vans are circulating through the suburbs of Christchurch bringing welfare services to communities. Four of the vans are focused on the Eastern Suburbs recognising that many people aren't able to get around and access vital financial and other assistance.

There's 100 more Ministry of Social Development staff operating in Christchurch than usual.  Five of our eight Work and Income Service Centres are open for emergency assistance in Hornby, Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Riccarton, Shirley, New Brighton and Ashburton.  People affected by the Christchurch earthquake can also get advice and help from the Government helpline phone 0800 779 997.
