For Immediate Release

Ministry of Social Development Chief Executive Peter Hughes is promising minimum disruption for staff and services in merging the Department of Child, Youth and Family with the Ministry of Social Development.

“My immediate focus is on getting to know CYF staff and their work programmes. I want to hear their ideas on how best the Ministry can support the vital service CYF provides to New Zealand’s most vulnerable children.

“Staff changes will be limited and closely managed working with both staff and unions. There will be no changes to any jobs in the Chief Social Worker, Service Development and Operations Groups including all of the regions and frontline offices.

“I am committed to making this merger as seamless as possible for all involved,” said Peter Hughes.
