Budget fact sheets 2006 - Disability allowance for people receiving a Residential Support Subsidy
The Government is investing $60.8 million over five financial years so people receiving disability-related care through the Residential Support Subsidy can access the Disability Allowance. The allowance is to help with their additional disability-related costs, such as medical fees and pharmaceutical costs.
Residential Support Subsidy is the name given to payments to service providers for people with physical, intellectual and psychiatric disabilities who are receiving residential care services.
This initiative provides funding so that those people in disability-related residential care can receive the Disability Allowance on the same basis as those living in the community.
The funding takes effect immediately and provides $2.3 million in 2005/06 and $58.5 million over the next four financial years.
