Budget fact sheets 2005 - increased work focus for people on the Domestic Purposes Benefit
The Government expects to achieve net savings of $23.2 million over the next four years as more people on the Domestic Purposes Benefit move off benefit to take up work opportunities.
The number of sole parents on DPB is decreasing as more take advantage of a strong labour market and Work and Income assistance to get jobs.
All DPB clients are required to complete Personal Development and Employment Plans that identify actions and goals that will help them towards independence.
Enhanced case management and improved employment services should accelerate the reduction in DPB numbers.
