Budget fact sheets 2005 - Department of Internal Affairs trust administration
The Government is investing just over $1 million over four years to cover the administration costs faced by some of the Trusts administered by the Department of Internal Affairs.
The Department of Internal Affairs administers six Trusts and 12 Community Trusts which provide support for communities and individuals.
Three of the Trusts, as well as all 12 Community Trusts, currently cover their administration costs from interest gained on the individual Trust funds.
The three Trusts to be covered by this new funding are the Peace and Disarmament Education Trust, the Pacific Development and Conservation Trust and the Chinese Heritage Poll Tax Trust.
The Government is also providing a grant of $100,000 to the New Zealand 1990 Scholarship Trust. The Trust rewards top secondary school students with scholarships.
The grant will ensure the Trust’s ongoing viability and guarantee that grants paid to top scholars each year can be maintained at existing levels.
